Baby Room Ideas

Bay windows are a gorgeous addition to any room. However, when you think about your child’s room and how much time you are going to be spending in there, you may want to consider it. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a big window to look out when rocking your little one to sleep?

Another added benefit of having a bay window, is the “window seat”. Yest they are super cool to look out of and relax by, but if designed properly they will add extra storage to your room. Most people build them with either drawers or to lift up. If you like the look above or below, we highly recommend you getting a contractor to do it for you.

Want to spice up your dessert table at that special baby shower of yours? Why not try including mason jars with a pie or crumble mix inside? Below are two fantastic, scrumptious dessert ideas. Drooling just thinking about them.

lemon meringue

With this mason jar pie, I crumbled the graham crackers in a Ziploc bag and then added in the sugar and softened butter.  I mixed it up by hand and pressed into the bottom of the mason jar.  I baked at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.

Next, simply follow the instructions on the Jell-O box for the pudding and meringue.  Just be sure to get the “Cook & Serve” variety.  This won’t work with the no-bake instant pudding.

Once cooled, I refrigerated for a few hours before serving …voila!

Below is another mason jar idea! It is even more easy! Just crush up oreo cookies, then put in nutella (or chocolate pudding) and then layers of whip cream (or ice cream). I’m a bit of a chocolate fanatic so I also added chocolate chips…yummmm. The little string around the top holding the spoon spices things up for the baby shower.

Sometimes it can be hard to go out and purchase everything you envision your child’s room to look like. Perhaps the room you are working with is an awkward shape? Or maybe you really want to optimize a space for storage but don’t know how?  In times like these it is best to go with a contractor. Here are a few of our favorite custom designs that you can keep in mind when explaining to a contractor what it is you are looking for.

custom play room design

What’s so great about this colorful design is that you will still have room to sit down in your living room or child’s room and take advantage of all the space available, all the while hiding the toys neatly underneath the bench.

toy wall

This storage design will definitely add character and a unique dynamic punch to any play room. Although this is a custom design {most likely you would need a contractor}, it isn’t super complicated and wouldn’t be too pricey to create. What’s great is you can slide bins of toys in and out of the square spaces. Also, the pungent colors are so distracting your eyes wouldn’t really focus on what was in the square storage space, more so the entire space as a whole.

Want to maximize storage for your child’s bedroom? Try these fitted ceiling height shelves in white – perfect for all the toys! You may even want to consider having different sized shelves to add more character to the room and storage for bigger things. Lastly, the latter is a great touch! Perfect for getting a puzzle tucked away on the top shelf.

Does your baby’s room need some spice to it? Why not paint inside of the drawers “hot pink” or “blue” – depending on the sex of the baby.

The frist one is by Bratt Decor too, which is a very well known high-end crib designer.  These iron cribs make each nursery space feel so sumptuous, luxurious and comfortable. What we loved about the Bratt Decor design was that it was a versatile and classic piece. Complete with four posters and canopy cross bars, create three different looks for your nursery. For the classic crib, simply assemble with no additions. Attach the four posts to each corner of the crib for a strikingly beautiful look. For a more ornate design, run a fabric along the attached cross bars (fabric not included). The Venetian Iron Crib will enhance the decor of any nursery. Choose from four stunning finishes of powder coat and hand applied patina: venetian gold, slate, pewter, antique white. Price includes white glove shipping.

Have an old desk lying around, or not into the traditional change table look? Why not convert your old desk into a change table. You can use the shelves for extra storage and color contrast too – added bonus! The black desk with pink accents looks the best for a baby room we find.

DIY Turn old desk into gorgeous dynamic change table

Looking for the perfect nursery colors that suit your taste? Well if your not into the whole “pink, blue or purple” thing, and want a timeless, more modern look have no fear. Most people are in awe when they see how nice grey and yellow go together. The yellow is more of an accent color than anything else, but really ads dimension, class and a bit of fun to your baby’s room. Also a little chandelier really reflects the yellow and makes the grey look that much more classy! This baby room design is also good if you don’t know the sex of your baby and want a more “unisex” room. Versatile Gray With Classic Florals

Baby shower food can be so much fun and doesn’t have to be super time consuming. Check out this great, simple spin on traditional cake pops! It’s also the perfect amount of suga…, so even your “health conscious” friends won’t be able to resists. Also, the contrast in color will really light up any table. fun fun.

Baby Shower Orea Pop Recipe

  • Melt white chocolate over the stove (make sure to have a double broiler bowl and not melt the white chocolate directly over the burner as it will BURN!!).
  • Get your oreo’s out and carefully stick thin wodden sticks into the “filling part of the oreo”. You want to make sure the stick is at least 0.5 inches into the cooke (i.e. half way through the filling), so it doesn’t fall out while dipping into the chocolate!
  • The chocolate should be melted by now, so add a few (~5 drops) of blue food coloring until it is the desired blue color you want :) Note: If you want to make them “pink”, just add a few drops of red food coloring and voila!
  • Hold the end of the wooden stick and carefully dip each oreo into the blue colored white chocolate {yummm}. For best results only dip half of each cookie into the chocolate.
  • Hang the chocolate upside down for a 30 seconds to harden. This is important as you don’t want the chocoalte to run down the side of the cookie and ruin the “look” of the “Oreo Pop!”
  • Now that the oreo has been covered in chocolate and semi-hardened, sprinkle some “blue sprinkles” on the cookie to jazz it up! If you really want to get snazzy, add a “blue ribbon” to each oreo.
